Cheap Flights to Rome

Here are some cheap cheapish airline companies that land at either Fiumincino or Ciampino airport in Rome. Take note of which airport you will be arriving in. Also bear in mind that many of these companies do not offer a meal, and will charge you around 4 Euros for a sandwich. You would be better off getting a sandwich from a supermarket beforehand. This is a small price to pay for the sometimes very cheap flights to Rome.

easyJet
Easyjet have been offering cheap flights to Rome for quite a while. They expanded five years ago when they bought the BA GO airline, who also offered cheap flights to Rome.

Germanwings
This company flies from Germany (Cologne or Stuttgart) to Italy. Germanwings has organised a shuttle bus to Rome for you, which is operated by the Schiaffini transport company. The shuttle departs from the arrivals level of the airport from terminal B, 40 minutes after our aircrafts have landed. The shuttle takes you directly to the Roma Termini Railway Station. Tickets can be purchased on the bus.

Ryanair
These cheap flights need no introduction. They have very cheap flights to Italy, many different places. However you will have to watch out for the taxes. When you book the flight the initial cost (which can be absurdly low) is added to the taxes so you cannot really fly with them for the price of a sandwich. When you find that really low price flight that you couldn't possibly miss, watch out that you do not have to get a 7.00am flight. (Have you ever tried getting to Stansted for 5.00 am?)

Sterling
This company flies from Scandinavia. They only have two flights a week.

Virgin Express
They fly via Brussels. You can book online, but expect to have to change in Brussels, also their cheap flights to Rome are not at all as cheap as they used to be.

SAS Snowflake
Cheap flights to Rome from Scandinavia.

Maersk Air
Cheap flights to Rome from Denmark. They have expanded much recently. Be aware of their seat booking policy. You buy the place on the plane according to the size of the seat you want. The small is okay for only a two hour flight (I am 5' 10'' and 85Kg). But if you are larger than average or suffer from claustrophobia, go for a larger size. The space between the seats is given on the website.
