The Cinema in Rome is generally cheaper than the cinema in the
U.K. and it can be a nice way to unwind and entertain yourself cheaply
for a couple of hours after a heavy day's sight-seeing around Rome.
However, most foreign films are dubbed into italian, so you will have
to go to one of a small number of cinemas dotted around the centre
which show the films in the original language (lingua originale).
The first choice of cinemas that show films in the original language
would have to be Multiscreen Pasquino which is in the middle of
Trastevere. They show the usual Hollywood style blockbusters, and
nothing too eclectic. There are three cinemas (sale) to choose
from. Be sure that if the film you want to see is in sala number 2 or
3, that you arrive early since these rooms are much smaller than sala
number 1, and the best places in the cinema go early. Warner Brothers' cinema
is on Piazza Repubblica, easily reachable by the metro. They show the
usual diet of action films and popular blockbusters.
Alcazar in Trastevere, just off Viale Trastevere shows films in the original
language only on Monday.
There are other cinemas dotted around Rome that show films
in original language. You should consult Roma C'e' for times and films
being shown.
