Finding accomodation in Rome can be sometimes difficult especially during the tourist season. If you have not booked a hotel, or accomodation in Rome, I would advise you to arrive as early as possible at the main train station, Stazione Termini, and head straight for the Accomodation Office to be found inside the station building. If you want to stay in the countryside, half an hour's drive from Rome, you could try renting an appartment in a Villa near Formello. For more information and prices, go to www.villa-apartments-italy.co.uk. To stay here, it would be a good idea to rent a car, available from the airport. It would give a you a relaxing refuge from the chaos of Rome. You would be pleased to have a place to wind down away from the "hustle and bustle" of the capital. Alternatively back in the city, budget hotels and luxury hotels in Rome can be found everywhere, but you need to book up fairly far in advance if you do not want a frustrating time of not finding the accomodation in Rome that you want. When you arrive at the station, turn right and head into the area North East of the train station. There are many budget hotels, and luxury hotels, going from 40-50 Euros upwards. However the area is not particularly nice. The youth hostel in Rome is an utter nightmare to get to from the main station. You need to take the metro to Flaminio, get the Tram to near to the Olympic Stadium, and then a bus to the youth hostel. It will take you at least an hour for the journey. I recommend that you get a cheap hotel near the station.
